ปัจจุบันหวยไทยแบ่งออกเป็นสองประเภทหลัก คือ สลากกินแบ่งรัฐบาล และหวยใต้ดิน ซึ่งประเภทหลังนี้เป็นหวยที่ไม่ถูกกฎหมายแม้จะมีความนิยมในหมู่คนจำนวนมาก
